Richmond, VA (1140wrva.com) – Although he is no longer on the stand, Jonnie Williams continues to be a focus at the corruption trial of former Governor Bob McDonnell, and his wife, Maureen McDonnell. The two face 14 counts related to a gift-giving scandal during McDonnell's time in office.
A VCU researcher, Dr. John Clore, testified he was handed a $25,000 check by Williams at an August 2011 event. Clore says this was not normal protocol, and that he turned the check over to the school. He also says the event seemed like an official event for the product.
Earlier testimony also revealed that some Health Department officials mocked Williams, calling him the "Tic-tac man" because Anatabloc looked like the mints.
