Marlon Wayans is promoting the upcoming release of Haunted House 2 which has a bigger and better budget and cast. While he’s out making moves in the digital and film space, Marlon tells The Breakfast Club his thoughts on what it takes to create stars like those who started on Keenon Wayans', In Living Color.
“Everyone had 20 years before that had that break on [In Living Color]. Now-a-days, everybody has a camera, so everybody throws their first set on YouTube. Everybody is like, ‘Yo, I did my first comedy skit yesterday. Yo, RT this for me.’ I’m like don’t put your first set on YouTube. Wait ten years, grow under the radar then come [and promote that set].
“Everybody wants to be famous but nobody wants to do the work to stay famous. Fame is work and you have to get the wind beneath your wings to make it. If you don’t have the skill set, you’re gonna have a moment and you gonna die.”
